A she-cat sat just inside the nursery, a small figure leaning against her side, half asleep. Slowly, the she-cat looked down at the kit and smiled. Frozenkit looked just like her grandfather... With a sigh, the she-cat looked back out into the camp, feeling very much alone. Where was Raveneye? she wondering, thinking of her dark-looking mate. Despite his appearances, Raveneye had always been sweet to her, kind and caring to both her and their kits. With a yawn, the she-cat shifted her left leg and winced as pain shot up her forepaw. A frown came to her face as she recalled the battle which had cost her so much. She had nearly lost her life in her own foolishness. Now that she'd had kits of her own, she couldn't imagine asking another she-cat to repay LitheClan by handing over a kit... But that's what she'd done. At the time, LitheClan had had no kits and was in need of younglings. All the same, her decision had caused trouble for the clan.
The she-cat was distracted as a dark warrior slipped into camp. It was Ashfeather, her nephew. Ashfeather could have easily passed as Raveneye's kit with his black fur. Ashfeather's eyes, however, were blue, very similar to Frozenkit's. Lunarfrost's ear twitched to the side and she watched the young warrior go and drop prey in the fresh-kill pile. Although she hadn't said anything yet, Lunarfrost was sure she had been catching the scent of BlackenedClan on the young tom... Surely he wasn't go over there?!

Featherpaw and Rainpaw padded out of the apprentices den side by side. They immediately headed for the fresh-kill pile, only to frown at the size and to pick out a rabbit. "We should go hunting, the fresh-kill pile is low." Featherpaw commented while munching on the rabbit. Rainpaw swallowed before speaking. "Don't talk with your mouth full! You might choke." he scolded. "I think we should see how the elders are first. They might need their bedding changed. After that, we could go out on a quick hunt for them and see if they have any ticks. That way, they could lie down in fresh bedding and eat while we get any ticks out." Featherpaw rolled her eyes at her brother's tight scheduling while taking the last bite of the rabbit. "You're the boss." she agreed. "Although, one of our mentors might want us to go out hunting with them or for some fighting practice." She flicked her tail as she padded over to the warriors den to see if her mentor was still inside. Rainpaw sighed, it was just a suggestion but oh well, she had a point anyway. "Featherpaw!" he called after her. "Wait!" He bounded over to his sister to wait by the entrance of the warriors den with her.

Curled up in a small corner of the nursery was a small, black tom-kit with ginger face-markings and light gray-blue eyes, his breathing even and slow as he dreamed of simple pleasures and how it must be like to be a warrior. Creaking one eyelid open, he spotted his mother and brother and closed his eyes again, sighing with the pleasure of knowing that they were alive. Sometimes it scared him, sometimes he worried that they wouldn't be there when he woke up.
Meanwhile, a ragged and muscled black tom padded into the camp, shortly after Ashfeather, his left ear flicking with the sounds of camp. Black eyes glittering, the large scar on one side of his face tingling a little with the memory of the dog, he set his bird down onto the fresh-kill pile, yawning and turning to glide gracefully into the nursery, a crooked and sweet smile appearing quickly onto his face as he spotted Lunarfrost, and their kits. He gently pressed his nose into her shoulder, a silent greeting as he sat down next to her, love sparkling in his onyx and deep eyes as they adjusted to the dimmer lighting of the Nursery.
A shadow passed over the entrance of the den, before it disappeared, signalling that the lithe cat that had passed by the den disappeared. The tabby tom sat down by Rainpaw and Featherpaw, his voice soft as he meowed, "Looking for someone?" His sharp green eyes glowed questioningly, his elegant tail swishing behind him as Jaggerstorm tilted his head at the apprentice's, wondering what they were up to.

Featherpaw whirled around to face the voice that had sounded behind her. "Jaggerstorm!" Rainpaw exclaimed, dipping his head in respect for the warrior. "We were just looking for our mentors. Well, we weren't going to into the warriors den. We were just peeking inside to see if they were there." Featherpaw sighed at her brother already chattering away. Sometimes he could get so annoying! Shaking her head she shouldered Rainpaw over so she could speak with Jaggerstorm. "You wouldn't happen to know where they are would you?" she asked politely with a smile. Rainpaw rolled his eyes, his sister almost fell head over heels for every male warrior. 'She'll learn one day.' he thought. The apprentice shifted closer to his sister. "I suggested that we should just wait until we see our mentors around the camp while helping the elders but Featherpaw said we should find them right away in case they want us to do something else. Although, if we take care of the elders now we won't have to do it another time, so we'd have the rest of the day to train." Rainpaw explained, yearning for praise from the warrior. But, Featherpaw had to provide for her side of the argument. "Well, I think we should just check with our mentors. Who knows, maybe we'll have an assessment today. They might want us to go on patrol, or go hunting, or practice fighting. In the end, it really is their decision." She turned her eyes to Jaggerstorm, hoping for praise from him too.

Jaggerstorm had a calm, slightly amused look on his face as he let out a small mrrow, before meowing softly, "How about you both accompany me on a hunt, and then you take care of the elders, hmm? That way you help the Clan, get out of camp, and help the elders." His lithe form was stiff and sore and a good run would help him loosen up, and taking the two siblings along wouldn't be a bother; in fact, it would be fun. Entertaining, if you will.

"Okay!" Featherpaw replied excitedly. "Err...What do you think Rainpaw?" she corrected quickly, looking at her brother. Rainpaw let out a sigh of pleasure at the fact she actually asked him about something. But, only he saw the look hidden from Jaggerstorm. He interpreted it as 'I'm only asking you this to look polite, so don't mess it up.' Normally he would growl and spit "Featherpaw!" but not here in front of Jaggerstorm. "I think it's a great idea." he replied. "Lets go." Featherpaw turned around with a happy twitch of her ears and waited for Jaggerstorm to take the lead.

Jaggerstorm watched Rainpaw, admiring the tom-cat's observational skills. Standing he stretched briefly before elegantly padding out of the camp, a small smile of happiness on his face as he weaved his way through the trees, his sore muscles straining slightly even though he moved with grace and ease.

The two apprentices followed Jaggerstorm out of the camp eagerly. Featherpaw tried to move swiftly like the warrior, but she ended up losing her balance. Rainpaw had to hold her up with his flank and wave his tail to signal that she had to use her tail for balance. Yes, he would have liked to impress Jaggerstorm with his knowledge but he didn't want to embarrass his sister. They both hoped Jaggerstorm didn't see. Rainpaw opened his mouth, taking in the scents. As soon as he scented it, he spotted a rabbit not to far off. Dropping low to the ground he made sure he was downwind. The rabbit lifted it's head to look around. Rainpaw shot off in it's direction. His paws treaded on the ground loudly, causing the rabbit to run off in the other direction. Rainpaw attempted to give chase but Featherpaw stopped him, she put her tail-tip to his mouth to signal he should have been quieter. Both apprentices wanted to receive praise from Jaggerstorm, but their love for each other got in the way.
ooc:// In this post I wanted to show more of the connection between brother and sister Rainpaw and Featherpaw have. ^^

Jaggerstorm didn't notice Featherpaw tripping, but he did spot Rainpaw's mistake- who hadn't? But what he liked was how Featherpaw helped him, quiet and silent. The tom-cat decided to show them something that most warrior's didn't like trying, and so he climbed a tree, watching the ground with intent green-gray eyes before he saw it- a rabbit. It slowly ambled beneath the tree, but it was dead a second later as Jaggerstorm leapt down, slamming onto it and killing it swiftly. Giving a small and wry grin, Jaggerstorm buried the rabbit, his elegant tail whipping behind him happily.

))OOO! Oooo! Can Lightshade mentor Featherpaw? *excited* I'd nominate Ashfeather, but he's a bit young still for an apprentice.((
The pale gray kit opened her gray eyes as she yawned. "Dad!" she exclaimed, looking up at him with excitement. She leapt to her feet and rubbed against his dark fur with a purr. Lunarfrost smiled to her mate and glanced over her shoulder, wondering where her son currently was. "Have you spoken to Ashfeather lately? He's been spending alot of time outside camp..." she frowned, looking over at where her nephew had settled down to clean his fur. "Oh, and could you find Rosebloom for me sometime today? My leg's been acting up." Frozenkit chimed after her mother, "Acting up!" The little she-cat was eager for some attention, particularly that of her father.

ooc:// Sure! All I need is mentor for Rainpaw now.
bic:// Featherpaw's eyes widened with amazement. "That was...!" she exclaimed, pausing for a few seconds to change her tone. "That was impressive." she mewed in a 'smooth' tone. Rainpaw couldn't stop himself from rolling his eyes at his sister. "That was an impressive move." he added. "I don't think most warriors would do that." He looked over at Jaggerstorm, amazed as well. Featherpaw opened her mouth to scent the air. She could just spot a vole scuffling around. She dropped low in a hunters crouch, bunching her hind musceles to ready herself for a leap. Just a few moments more....now! She sprung, landing on the vole, her weight killing it instantly. She scraped earth over the prey and smiled to herself, pleased with the catch.

Bending down to nuzzle his little kit fondly, Raveneye tilted his head quizzically at Lunarfrost, meowing softly, "No, I don't suppose I have...wonder why..." He mused to himself, before instantly pricking his ears at her leg remark. 'Rosebloom. Got it.' He thought to himself, gazing worriedly with his black eyes at the aforementioned leg before licking his daughter, his eyes shining love and happiness. "Hello, little one." He murmured lovingly to her, his tail wrapping securely around her hind legs.

((*nods* Certainly. ^^ The ceremony will be held when they return.... And how about Rainpaw's mentor can be...Thornstar. Yeah.... Tha'd work. ^^ If you don't want for that to happen, just tell me, Patmos. ^^))
Thornstar padded out of his den, a look of happiness on the golden leader's face. He gazed around his camp, thinking about how far LitheClan had come over the year it had been through. They had become a real Clan, fought BlackenedClan, allied BlackenedClan, and moved with BlackenedClan to MistralClan's and TideClan's territories.
But there was a new question: who would LitheClan's new deputy be? He looked about over all of the cats. There would be so many fine choices...and he was deeply wishing that Lunarfrost hadn't been injured beyond her warriorhood. She was a great deputy, and he would be exceedingly sorry to replace the she-cat....
What has happened has happened, he thought with a sigh. He also had watched Featherpaw and Rainpaw leave the camp with Jaggerstorm. They need mentors, too, he thought. Lightshade would be a fine mentor for Featherpaw...and I can take Rainpaw. He looks like he'll be a challenge. His eyes closed in happiness and a purr escaped his throat.
Feathershaft moved from the warriors' den, stretching, her tabby pelt sleek and shining in the sunlight, Gorseclaw following her. She shook the bits of moss out of her pelt that had stuck from the bedding in the warriors' den. Her bright eyes flickered around the camp, she moved to take a mouse from the fresh-kill pile, Gorseclaw right behind her, and padded back to the warriors' den, sitting in the sunlight right outside of the den with the tom. The spoke in cheery voices as they ate their morning meal.
Shadeclaw sat with Cinderkit, flicking his tail for her to chase. She crouched the best she could, rump up in the air, tail flicking rapidly. She leapt, trying to grab the dark warrior's tail. After she finally 'caught' it, Shadeclaw laughed at the black kit. She looked at her father proudly, his tail still in her mouth.
"How'dido?" she asked.
Shdeclaw smiled. "You did quite well," he meowed. "You've just got to work on being--" He lowered his voice--"quiet." He growled playfully and leapt at the kit, picking her up with one paw. She squealed and kicked at him, trying to get out of her father's grasp.
Both cats laughing, they finally stopped, Cinderkit jumping on her father's back and laying still.
"Will I be a good warrior?" she asked her father.
"One of the best the Clans have ever seen," Shadeclaw meowed back to her. Cinderkit spent more time with him than Ryekit and Wheatkit; she also looked just like her father. He sighed. The black tom couldn't be happier.

))Heh, I just realized: Featherpaw and Feathershaft. ^^((
Frozenkit purred and beamed up at Raveneye. "Hello, Daddy," she said sweetly. Lunarfrost snorted. "Oh, so you act all sweet for him, but when I wake up, you're chewing on my tail." She smiled softly and gave the she-kit a soft bat on the ear. The quen gave Raveneye a quick lick on the cheek and stood slowly. "I'm going to talk to Thornstar; can you keep an eye on her? Oh, and Icekit and Onyxkit are in there." She flicked her tail towards the nursery. Onyxkit wasn't her own son, but there were times when he might as well have been. The little tom had been raised collectively by the queens after both his mother and father had disappeared. Sweetlily was, of course, very fond of him, as Onyxkit was her half-brother, but an older sister and a godmother couldn't make up for a missing mother sometimes...
The tabby queen limped her way over to the golden leader with a smirk. "I've seen that look before..." she teased. Lifting her bad leg high off the ground, Lunarfrost lowered herself down to the ground, stretching her back legs out behind her. "So, have you chosen a new deputy yet? Redpelt was an excellent deputy and he would have made a fine leader... had he not disappeared. But, all the same, LitheClan needs a new deputy now. We've had peace for some time, but StarClan only knows how long it'll last."
"Geraff!" A little voice called, leaping on Shadeclaw's back. A fluffy little tom, lighter than his father, but darker than his mum, perched there, a mischevious look on his face. "I scared you! Didn't I Dad, didn't I?" he asked eagerly, sliding down the warrior's back. "Cinderkit, I think Mum wants to clean you, so stay away from the nursery for now. She already got Wheatkit and I!" The little tom frown down at his neat gray fur. "I kinda liked that thistle on my leg..." he muttered quietly, but looked back up at his father with a bright look. "What are you doing today, Dad? Are you going hunting? How about on a patrol? Oo! Are you gonna attack those mousebrained TideClanners? Can I come, please Dad?" It seemed surprising that the little tom was Sweetlily's kit. Ryekit appeared to be making up for his mother's silent life by filling it with questions and constant talking. He was a sweet little cat, though, innocent in almost every way.
"M-may I join you?" An unsure voice asked Feathershaft and Gorseclaw. Although he was definitely a seasoned warrior, Lightshade was still awkward and shy around any she-cat that wasn't his quiet friend Sweetlily. Lunarfrost, of course, took advantage of this and teased him about it, but the tabby warrior rather hoped Feathershaft wouldn't do the same... At his white-toed paws a finch lay, freshly caught that morning.
))I hope you dun mind about the Redpelt(that's his name, right?) thing, Thorneh. I just thought that there had to have been another deputy in the five moons Lunarfrost's already been retired to the nursery.

((*Shakes head* No, I don't mind at all, Dark. ^^ It helps quite a bit, actually.... XD))
Thornstar smiled at Lunarfrost. "Yes...he would have," he agreed. "He was a great warrior...as were you," he added. "That accident shouldn't have happened..." He sighed. "I wanted LitheClan left in your paws when I passed onto StarClan, really...but since it cannot be now...." He looked around the clearing. "I'm not sure about who I want the deputy to be. But...I was actually thinking of Jaggerstorm. He would make a good deputy, don't you think? He's a strong, young warrior...loyal and devoted... But Lightshade...he has the same qualities, just...older." He nodded. "What do you think? Any suggestions? I'm hoping to name my new deputy tonight...."
Shadeclaw let out a hrrumph as his kit landed on his back. After he fell back down, Cinderkit did the same. Shadeclaw grinned at Ryekit. "I might be going on a patrol later, yes," he meowed. "But you aren't to call TideClanners mousebrained. They did a very kind thing for us, giving us this territory to live in. And no, you can't go...not this time. But you'll be a fine warrior, too, just like your sister." He smiled warmly at both of his kits.
"We can play like we're going on a patrol, though, Ryekit!" Cinderkit squeaked. She crouched down, tail waving in the air, and leapt at her brother with a tiny growl.
Feathershaft smiled at Lightshade. "Sure," she meowed, and Gorseclaw nodded his approval as well. "The more the merrier." She moved over to make room for the tom. "Beautiful day, isn't it?" she meowed happily, surveying the clearing and watching the kits play.

Raveneye cuddled his daughter close, nodding his assent to Lunarfrost as he watched her walk away. "You bite your mother's tail?" He meowed teasingly and sweetly, his black eyes fond as he nuzzled his daughter.
A small and fluffy ginger and white she-cat slipped out of the nursery and padded quietly and silently over to her father and siblings, sitting down by her father's leg and watching Shadeclaw fondly with her deep blue eyes.
Smiling crookedly, the young warrior meowed, "Then again, it's also a great move for fighting. Nice catch, Featherpaw." He added, his green-gray eyes glowing with an odd sense of happiness as he hunted and talked with these siblings, bonding a little with them as their mentors were busy.

Featherpaw puffed out her chest proudly at the praise. "I think we should head back to camp." Rainpaw suggested. "Our mentors are probably waiting for us." Featherpaw sighed, her brother was already ruining the fun. "Right, Featherpaw?" he added. "Probably." The annoyance plain as daylight in her voice. But she did realize, training with her mentor was a lot better than having her protective brother hanging around. Rainpaw looked over at Jaggerstorm, waiting for the warrior to agree. "I'm Thornstar would love to know about that rabbit." Featherpaw added. "Featherpaw!" Rainpaw exclaimed, clearly embarrassed. "Kidding." She lightly cuffed him on the ear with her paw.

Jaggerstorm nodded in approval, though he vaguely wondered why Rainpaw was so eager to train with his mentor. 'Was I like that?' He thought to himself, letting his mind drift back to the time when he had been trained. Grinning to himself, he rather thought that he was. "Sounds good to me." He turned and stretched his weary limbs before motioning towards the camp with his elegant striped tail.

Featherpaw uncovered her vole while Rainpaw immediately followed Jaggerstorm, flicking his tail for Featherpaw to follow too. Lucky for him, Featherpaw's mouth was full so she was forced to bite back a sharp reply. She followed the two toms to the camp. Almost at the same moment her entire body was completely in the camp, she broke off from the hunting party to drop her vole in the fresh-kill pile. The she-cat spotted Lightshade and eagerly trotted up to him. "There you are!" she exclaimed. "I was looking for you this morning but I had to go hunting with Jaggerstorm and my brother." she flicked her tail at the two. "So, what're we going to do today?" Rainpaw sighed, clearly frustrated with Featherpaw. He couldn't get one moment alone with her to thank her for not giving him a hard time about the rabbit. It would have been the proper thing to do, but he'd have to do so later. Seeing Thornstar he trotted over to the leader, dipping his head respectfully as he sat next to him.

Jaggerstorm sighed as he trotted in to the camp, but realized that the apprentices didn't want to hunt. They wanted to train. With a small grin to himself of those memories, Jaggerstorm trotted past Thornstar and Lunarfrost with a respectful flick of his ears in hello, his tail twitching happily as he set down his prey and sat down, feeling more stiff and sore than ever.

Lightshade took a big bite of his finch and nodded to Feathershaft with a small smile. She's so pretty... he thought, then blushed crimson beneath his fur. He was relieved when Featherpaw trotted up, so he could turn away. "Oh, and it must have almost killed you!" he teased as she complained about having to hunt with her brother and Jaggerstorm. He batted playfully at her ear. "Why don't you get something to eat, then we'll go out training. We need to work on your fighting, right?"
Lunarfrost nodded slightly. She gave the leader a soft nudge on the shoulder. "Calm down. You'll still be around for a while longer. Besides," she added with a smile, "I'm not dead, I'll still be here to help guide LitheClan when you're gone. Hopefully." She purred a soft laugh. Flicking her tail towards the growing group, she said, "What about Gorseclaw? He would not be a bad deputy, don't you think? Or," she smiled, "what about Raveneye? He's certainly got the experience. The only thing with Raveneye is, I'm not sure he wants to be deputy. At this point, he might be more satisfied being just a warrior, so he can spend more time with his kits." She shrugged. "You'd have to ask him."
"Yesh," Frozenkit purred up at her father. "It looked like a mouse! I went like this!" She turned away and clumsily leapt on her father's black tail. "See?"
Ryekit beamed at his father, but it was interupted as his dark sister leapt on him. He growled back, just as loudly. Pushing her off, he jumped not at Cinderkit, but at Wheatkit, his other sister. "I've got you!" he cried playfully, batting gently at her ear.

Raveneye began to yank his tail around, making it a harder target to catch. He nearly swamped her with his large form as he cuddled her close, his black eyes glowing love. "You're gonna be a great hunter!" He purred in his rich voice, his scarred face close to his daughter in adoration.
Wheatkit giggled, pushing up at her brother's soft stomach with her slender white paws. Her dark blue eyes were merry as she giggled again, rolling onto her stomach and smiling happily.
Onyxkit had been crouching in the nursery, before stretching his orange-splashed black legs and blinking his light amber eyes, trotting over to Lunarfrost and Thornstar, sitting down close to Lunarfrost and tilting his head as he listened, before piping up, trying to be helpful, "I can be deputy, if you want, Thornstar!"

Featherpaw disliked the teasing but she let out a small giggle. "Yes!" she agreed happily to his plans for today's training. She trotted over to the fresh-kill pile and pulled out a mouse. Quick and easy to eat. She took a few ravenous bites before it was finished. Burying the bones and swiping her tongue around her muzzle, Featherpaw leaped up and stood beside her mentor again. Her blue eyes sparkled with delight at the thought of fighting practice. "Featherpaw don't rush!" Rainpaw scolded his sister when he looked behind his shoulder. Just one glance, and she ate and was right next to Lightshade again. He sighed, there was absolutely nothing he could do about that she-cat. How would she survive as a warrior? She won't always have to go out to train, hunt, and patrol. Staying inside the camp for 5 rabbit-hops would kill her.

Lunarfrost laughed lightly. "Oh, I'm sure you could," she purred, giving the tom-kit a playful bat on the ear.
Frozenkit purred, looking up at her father with a mirrored expression. Her little tongue swiped out to give him a kiss on his dark nose.
Ryekit laughed, rolling away from her. He yawned rather suddenly and rolled to his side, stretching out on his side. "So comfy," he mumbled quietly.
Lightshade purred a laugh. "Alright, let's go." He stood, giving both Gorseclaw and Feathershaft a brief nod. Turning, he trotted from camp, his tail high. "Where should we go? Just the training hollow? Or," he said, giving her a mischevious look, "we could go to the beach, just to make things a little harder, eh?"
))Y'know, I just realized that all four clans have water access... Are they on a penninsula? That would make sense...((

Featherpaw eagerly followed her mentor after playfully sticking her tongue out at Rainpaw (much to his distaste). Being out of the camp again made her feel more at ease but certainly not less excited for training. She gave her silver pelt a quick shake before her blue eyes widened at the chance Lightshade gave her. "The beach!" she exclaimed. "Nothing's too hard for me!" The she-cat puffed out her chest as if to look tough but she couldn't help giving it a few quick licks.
